ThinFusion: An Interview with Dan Russell

Thin Fusion... a cost effective, manageable and fast environment

I sat down with Dan Russell, Lead Technician for Big Horn County School District in Lovell, Wyoming to talk to him about ThinFusion. Dan introduced ThinFusion to his middle school library this fall, so I wanted to see how this new product was working for him.

What do you like about your ThinFusion lab?
I really like the speed of the Linux Desktop. Documents, Internet, and Programs open as fast as you can click on them. I also like the look and feel of the Linux Desktop, it's a nice change from using Windows everyday.

How do you think students have responded to this new technology?
The students responded very well at first. They were amazed at how fast it was. They also liked the look of the Thin Clients themselves. There were a few changes that they need to get used to in OpenOffice, but nothing a quick training session couldn't take care of.

Would you recommend ThinFusion technology to other school districts? Why?
I would definitely recommend ThinFusion to other school districts. If you are looking for a cost effective, manageable, and fast environment, then ThinFusion is the solution. We cut the cost dramatically in our lab with hardware costs and Microsoft licensing. Also, from a technical standpoint, it is much easier to manage a central server rather than touching every individual machine. And again, it is lightning fast.

Thank you, Dan, for your time.
